Chapter 22

Climbing gingerly out of bed, I found some clothes from my suitcase and went to try the shower.

Tommy was on the couch his small face radiant as he dreamed of goals scored and perhaps of a new daddy that cared. I let him sleep too. The shower was electric and, amazingly for Ron, it worked. I wondered whether the computers that Ron had purchased would work as well.

I stepped out of the shower, my body still tingling from the tiny jets of hot water, shucked on my clothes and sleeked back my fair hair whilst checking my life signs in the mirror.

Today I was a cockerel, preening and strutting my stuff. One crow and the world would fall at my feet.

I wandered back into the bedroom in case Jennifer had awoken. But she was still as I had left her. Perhaps her deep sleep was because she now felt safe. She stirred and teased me with a long pink white thigh. I lowered my lips and gently kissed it. My whole body felt on fire and I longed to join her again, to give her more of the loving we had shared through the night. I wondered whether some part of me was still with her and whether she held it dear in her sleep.
But instead I went next door to the small suite of offices where Smokey's Web site would be created and nurtured. It was like a cavern, lit only by artificial strip light. The lock on the door was solid and would provide good security for the high-tech equipment.

I rummaged about and found a laptop computer. Still more rummaging found me a web camera. I'd not eaten yet but I knew that today was to be the debut of Gerda's lunchtime spectacular. If I could get a web cam to record the show, it would set the new web site off to a good start.

I found a telephone socket and dialed up a free ISP. I would need a permanent connection but this would do for now. I surfed the Internet and then downloaded some software to make the camera work.

In deep concentration, I fought with the technical configuration of the camera.

The door had been opened silently behind me and I jumped as a pair of soft lips nuzzled into my neck.

"Hi," I grunted.

"Hi you," she said. Her voice was silky and still heavy with sleep.

Still focused on the computer code, I absentmindedly reached out and ran my hand up her leg, reveling in her smooth softness and her shudders.

She was wearing my red checked shirt from yesterday and nothing else as my roaming hand discovered. I completed my work and saved it to the hard disc of the portable computer then turned to allow her onto my lap. Over her shoulder I noticed she had locked the door.

We smooched and rocked gently backwards and forwards together sharing our love until we were both weak and couldn't hold on to each other any more.

Then Jennifer walked back regally to unlock the door. It felt so good to know she now carried even more of my love with her now.

I switched on the computer and ran a test to see if the web cam was working. My happy face stared back at me flushed with lovemaking and the pleasure of my technical success.

I caught the underground train for Smokey's knowing it was Gerda's big floorshow day leaving Jennifer to do some essential shopping, make Tommy his breakfast and start making us our new home.
